We are engaged in providing the broad assortment of “Hardness and Scratch” testing intsruments
Hardness measurement can be used for coating Industry to determine the resistance of the coating to scratching from general wear and tear and also if a coating is fully cured.
There are 2 popular methods of Hardness & scratch measurement depend different properties of material.
01) Resistance to Scratch and Wear Method:
Elcometer offer various options to assess “Coating’s resistance to scratch”
02) Resistance to Indentation Method:
Elcometer offer various options to assess “Resistance to penetration”. For coatings in particular, there are three common methods where the depth of penetration of a weighted tool is used to show the coating’s resistance to penetration:
Elcometer 501 Pencil Hardness Tester is to provide a rapid, inexpensive method for determination of the comparative scratch resistance and hardness of a coating. This test is known as the Wolff-Wilborn method. The pencil lead, prepared beforehand using the special sharpener and abrasive paper, is inserted into the Elcometer 501 hardness tester and on a firm horizontal surface and the pencil is held firmly against the coating, point away from the operator.
The lowest hardness value of the pencil which marks the coating determines the coating’s hardness rating.

“Barcol Impressor Hardness Tester” is easy to use & no experience required.
It can be used in any position and in any space that will allow for the operator's hand. Making sure the indenter point is perpendicular to the surface being tested, the instrument is placed onto the sample and a light pressure is exerted against the instrument driving the spring-loaded indenter point into the material and the hardness reading is instantly indicated on the dial, which is divided into one hundred graduations. No waiting, pre-loading or separate measurements.
Portable : The Impressor is a convenient tool for testing the hardness of aluminum, aluminum alloys, copper, brass and other materials including plastics and fiberglass. The instrument is designed for use on fabricated parts and assemblies as well as on raw stock.
Easy to Use : No experience required; can be used in any position and in any space that will allow for the operator's hand. The hardness reading is instantly indicated on the dial, which is divided into one hundred graduations. No waiting, pre-loading or separate measurements.
Lightweight : The Impressor weighs only 1 lb. 2 oz. The entire Impressor package comes complete with carrying case, adjusting wrench and two spare indenter points. The Impressor + case = 2 lb. 8oz. Shipping weights = 4 pounds, box = 12 x 11 x 6 inches, dimensional weight 5 pounds. (1.8 kilograms, box = 21 x 28 x 16 cm, dimension weight 2.5 Kilograms)

To ensure the Barcol Hardness Tester is in calibration, a range of Standard Test Discs is available. Please select the appropriate Test Disc from the list of Accessories to supplement the disc supplied.
All results are recorded in Barcol Units (BU).
Application :
The Webster Hardness Testers are a portable, fast, accurate hardness gauge that are made in three distinct models for testing Aluminum, Brass, Copper and Mild Steel. Webster Hardness Testers will quickly identify tempers and test a variety of shapes that other testers cannot check, such as extrusions, tubing and flat stock.
All testers operate in the same manner but differ only in penetrator design, type of load spring and hardness ranges. The principle of operation is simple. The work to be tested is placed between the anvil and the penetrator. Pressure is then applied to the handles until "bottom" is felt at which time the dial indicator is read.
Model B
The Model B Tester is designed to cover the hardness of aluminum alloys from the 1100 to the 7075 series. The 20 graduations on the Webster dial indicator covers the range between 25 and 110 on the Rockwell E Scale.
Model B-75
The Model B-75 Tester was developed to obtain more sensitive response to slight changes in the upper range of hardness covered by the Model B. This sensitivity is particularly useful in testing mild steel and the stronger aluminum alloys. For brass the B-75 covers the range from annealed to full-hard. This added sensitivity is accomplished by incorporating a penetrator of slightly different contour and a heavier load spring than used in the Model B. The 20 graduations on the Webster dial indicator covers the range between 20 and 100 on the Rockwell B Scale.
Model BB-75
The Model BB-75 Tester was developed to answer the need of certain industries for a method of rapidly testing the hardness of electro-deposited copper and copper in the low hardness range. The B-75 penetrator is used to give sensitivity and the Model B load spring is employed to give light pressures. This combination allows the user to test the soft range of many common materials.

We are engaged in providing the broad assortment of Buchholz , “Hardness and Scratch” testing instruments.
Improved mechanical resistance is part of many quality requirements. One important criteria for assessing this feature is hardness. Depending on the requirements there are various methods for testing hardness. Some are dedicated to characterize coatings and others are more suitable for testing bulk materials such as metals, plastics, rubber or elastomers. Elcometer manufacture and supply a wide range of instrumentation designed for the hardness tests most frequently used in the industry – these include pendulum, scratching, indentation or rebound measuring methods.
The Elcometer 3095 Buchholz Hardness Tester is a simple-to-use gauge for measuring the hardness of coatings on substrates using an indentation method. The indenting tool incorporates a bevelled disc of indenting tool which is fitted into a stainless steel block exerting a constant test load of 500g.
The tool is positioned on the test specimen with the edge of the disc in contact with the coating. The mass of the tool provides a constant load between the disc and the coating.
The gauge is places on to the coating for 30 seconds and the length of any subsequent indentation in the coating is measured using the graduated microscope. The length of the indentation is inversely proportional to the hardness of the coating.
The result is expressed as units of Buchholz Indentation resistance using the scale printed in the operating instructions.
